Sample calculation
This calculation is an example you can use to identify whether you release more or less than 50,000 kilos of packaging on the Dutch market.
An example
You import screws in boxes of 10,000 units. Each batch of 40 boxes is wrapped in plastic wrap. The screws are repackaged after importing in your company into smaller plastic containers of 500 units. You then sell these plastic containers in secondary packaging/outer boxes of 10 units on to your customers. Each batch of 50 outer boxes is wrapped in stretch film. The weights of the different packaging are as follows:
• cardboard box of 10,000 screws: 600g;
• plastic wrap with 40 boxes: 200g;
• plastic container: 33g;
• stickers on plastic container: 2g;
• outer box for 10 plastic containers: 400g;
• plastic wrap with 50 outer boxes: 200g.
If you import and subsequently sell 100,000 boxes at 10,000 screws in a calendar year, your data will look as follows:
